Key West is small — about four miles by two — so where you stay changes your trip more than the resort itself. Old Town and the area around Duval Street and Mallory Square are walkable to restaurants, bars and the sunset celebration. The Atlantic side along South Roosevelt Boulevard has larger resorts with pools and ocean views, and New Town and Stock Island offer more space, marinas and lower prices.
Because the island has limited room to grow, rates stay high most of the year. Booking early, staying mid-week or choosing a resort with free parking and bikes can make a real difference to the total cost.
